CV Swivels Maintenance
Hi,

Any help appreciated on this please. I'm at a loss as to what kit to get to replace the seals on the two front CV Swivels on my 2011 90 HT.

The actual joints themselves are all OK and not pitted etc, it just leaking so i think it is just the seals etc that need replacing.

Can anyone please point me in the direction of the best kit to go for (I have seen Britpart ones but they seem very cheap compared to genuine), will another OEM bramd be OK? Don't wish to skimp, but £200+ per side for genuine seems a bit steep! as the labour is bad enough.

Thank you, I just can't work out just what I need. Big Cry

I’d avoid Britpart, regards the rest of your questions I’d have a look on Ashcroft Transmissions web site and possibly ask them. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

If there is no bearing play and the balls are fine just pull the whole assembly off the axle and replace the large seal around the ball, the driveshaft seal, axle gasket and retainer plate.Think they all leak abit anyway.

As for seals get corteco and for bearings always timken. IIRC LR parts do a kit with everything minus the ball for £60 or so if you are going to do the lot

EDIT: you won’t be replacing the driveshaft seal if you do it this way cause you won’t be taking the driveshaft out 🤣

So
Corteco swivel seal
Retainer plate
Swivel ball to axle gasket
Fresh 1 shot grease (1 sachet per side)

I think maybe me or Custom90 has you slightly misunderstood. I wouldn’t be talking to Ashcrofts unless you’re after new CV joints or driveshafts.

Also. Maybe consider replacing your brake caliper bolts and make sure your socket is fully home on the bolt when you take it out. Otherwise it’s a right ballache. Ask me how I know. You also need 12 point (bihex) 13mm socket for those.

Yep thanks. Looked on Ashcroft but they only seem to do the full sets with CVs. I’ll look for your suggestions individually. Thumbs Up
