Haven't heard of any other total breakdowns. Although one or two alternator failures have been reported.
What battery voltage is showing on your screen, if any? I hope it's soon repaired, please update with any developments. |

That sounds like they don't know what the fault is. l wonder if there's any update. l've got a few friends with Defenders, all but one MHEV diesel and none of them have had any issues with battery charging.
l know there's been a fair bit of it on the Grenadier |

Apologies for not posting an update - only excuse is having an 11 week old!
I collected the car just over 3 weeks after the breakdown - with the 12v battery and DC/DC converter both replaced to supposedly resolve the issue. It seems the DC/DC converter was the issue - but when I pushed the service team for an answer on what has caused this, the answer I received was only 'general wear and tear' - sure, after only 1,400 miles?! Apparently there have been a few instances of this (within the Marshalls UK dealer group) - and it's been escalated to JLR. I've requested a more detailed technical report which they have agreed to but I'm still waiting for this, have chased again this week. The vehicle has since managed a 400 mile round trip without fault since then, though - so hopefully nothing further goes wrong. |

l hope so as well, l shudder to think what this would cost out of warranty.
My local independent LR specialist has a lovely 2014 110 XS Utility just come in, and have offered me £15,000 plus that vehicle for my 2022 90 Commercial. l have to say, l did think about it to the point where l am going to borrow it for a few hours to see what l think of it. |

our 21 plate Defender 110, sadly 6 months out of manufacturer warranty, was towed last week for 'electrical fault' warning and then full shut down of car. Finally after having the recovered car 12 days LR dealership have diagnosed new DC converter required. Obviously it's expensive but I'm suspicious that somethings going on coz dealership said they would part fund the fix and because the part is on back order they would provide a hire car. Plus they will seek a contribution directly from LR? Very good but all seems highly suspect to me, perhaps the dealership missed something during the service in April? Perhaps there was a recall but we weren't included? Anyone else think it smells fishy? Where should I go with this?

So my 2022 D250 has the same issue, it’s currently in the garage and they’ve said it’s the DC converter. Luckily I’m just inside my warranty time wise and have covered 40k miles.
Is there an issue with the DC converter parts, I’ve read one other forum with this issue. |

I don’t think this is fishy. You’re being offered contribution outside of warranty. I’d accept and not look back. 23.5MY 90 V8 Carpathian grey |

I have recently experienced a similar issue - I am out of warranty
Wife was driving, car displayed electrical fault and pull over immediately. AA chap said the battery was flat...charged it up a bit and got us to the garage. AA chap suspected alternator. Local (non specialist) garage couldn't do anything as they don't hold any of the equipment to diagnose MHEV's. Called up a specialist in Poole, call back from their tech guy, didnt want me to bring it in as they do not have the expertise/equipment for electrical faults on these cars. Booked it into Hendy Christchurch...charged the battery overnight and just about made it to the garage. Diagnosed as DC-DC convertor failure "FOUND START UP BATTERY NOT BEING SUPPORTED BY DC DC - CONFIRMED INTERNAL FAULT WITH DC DC CONVERTOR" Cost Breakdown: Diagnostic £180 DC-DC Convertor £681.03 Battery Charge, Test and Reset £54 Labour £468 (took them 2.6 hours) Total £1383.03 (£1659.64 inc VAT) Part was on back order, took them 2 weeks to source and fix it. Im 3.5 years into the car with 38k Miles. This is the first fault I have had with this car. Apart from the headlights....which is for another thread. The have given me the old DC DC convertor...not sure if this is a repairable component but I know what Hendy are like they just want to replace everything without trying actually fix anything. |

This is almost the same experience that I had apart from they replaced the battery to start with.
A new DC-DC converter at 40K miles, the garage said they hadn't replaced any and now two that week. |
