exact same symptoms on mine (only under power on Left handers) was the bottom intercooler hose rubbing on the steering column lower spline bolt. Local repairer fitted new column and steering box missing the obvious witness marks on the hose.

Thanks for that. I’ve had a “good” look and can’t see anything of that sort. I’m gonna go out again in a bit and have a proper look

Shove plenty of rust penetrant /oil on the steering shaft ujs then work round and round a few times.
Give mine a squirt of oil every time I do an engine oil change now. Last edited by landy andy on 19th Jul 2024 7:25pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m changing engine oil in a few days so will be under the car. Drove it yesterday for just a few miles with no issue. I’m going to have a proper look all along steering column/rack and oil the hell out of it when I drop my engine oil.
Fingers crossed this is the solution. I like cheap fixes! |

Many moons ago I had something similar happen going around roundabouts in my RRC.
Turned out to be a cardboard disk from inside a bottle top in the bottom of the reservoir. Can't see it being your issue, unless the filter is missing from your header tank. Mike |
