New member with 2 Defenders | |
Hi, I am a new member with a Defender in Guernsey (TdCi) and a Defender in Portugal (TdCi). The Guernsey Defender is a 2012 XS 90 SW. It was stolen in the UK last year, but I managed to recover it later that night with the help of a hidden tracker that I had fitted
The Portugal Defender is a bit of a mish mash. It started life as a Truck Cab 90, but has since been renovated, with a soft top, electric windows, and a new interior. It is as great a vehicle as the 90 XS, but I am having some problems with it - an electric window switch started smoking, which I believe is the resistor that drives the green LED for lighting. I believe it is the Britpart Electric Window conversion kit with the 5 pole switch. I cut off the resistor and LED, but now it again only lowers the window and does not lift it. I think there might be an issue with the wiring going through the door. The wiring is a bit ropey - the rubber grommet seats on the body side, not on the door side (where it is just sitting outside the door card). Does anyone have a picture of how the door side grommet should fit in the door card ?
Also, does anyone know what the wire gauge is for these wires ? I am thinking of running new wires between the motor and the body side to see if this sorts out the issue.
Many thanks
Andrew
