Looking for any help please
Picked up a new 110 -250 XS end of May . The car had already been spec’d by the dealer previously , but had most of the spec I wanted without the long wait . One thing it did have was 22” wheels which wouldn’t have been my choice ( especially at around £3000 with spare ) . Did a bit of research and it appeared I would get 6 pot calipers on the front with 380mm disks and 365mm disks on the rear . That sort of justified the cost . Picked car up and the calipers were certainly not 6 pot . They looked very small . Didn’t make a fuss on collection as I wanted to make sure . So 6 weeks down the line I believe they have fitted the wrong disks / calipers . My dealer however have never had this issue and don’t think it’s there issue .( as they didn’t make the car 🤷♀️) Had a couple of conversations with them . Today I contacted LR direct , who were absolutely useless and refused to discuss it as they will only talk to my dealer . So at the moment I’m going round in circles . So has any one had this issue ? Any one know for definite if I should have the bigger brakes with 22” factory fitted wheels Or any one know who I can contact regarding this issue ? You can definitely spec the XS with 22” wheels

Ok so they were specked as new , but the D250 did not have the large brakes . Larger brakes came with the D300 to cope with the extra power. 110 XS 250 MY 23 Gondwana Stone, Cold climate pack and towbar

Some vehicles with 22” get the large disc/rotors which equates to wheels no smaller than 20” can be
fitted, some 22” come with standard brakes for the model.. if it was a standard D250 brake set up, then 18” wheels could be fitted.. Quite a few owners in Oz with D300/P400 have had various results when trying to retrofit the D5 rear calipers to enable 18” wheels to be fitted, usually down to the rotors that were used during assembly if they came with the factory 22” .. yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

It should come with the bigger brakes if 22” wheels are factory ordered, the brochure is a couple of model years out of date but I’m pretty sure that hasn’t changed.

Land Rover seems to have dropped the big front brakes on he D250 with 22's.

I think you are spot on J, when Tuff Ant in Australia did the fully certified rear caliper swap, on the LR book of faces owners group , they advised owners who had 22” delivered from the factory measure the rotors, some had the standard model rotors, some had the larger ones, a bit of a lottery at the time.. Those with the larger rotors could not drop down to the 18” wheel fitment of course, 20”. being the smallest option yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

lt's impossible for someone in production to fit the "wrong brakes" to a new Defender.
The whole system is completely automated and those brakes will have been in the spares queue to arrive at the fitting station as your Defender came through. There won't have been any option to fit the "wrong" parts. |

Would it not be simply an upgrade to 22inch wheels by swapping the wheels, like a cheap upgrade, possibly done by the dealership?

begs the question post covid when there was a "part shortages" whether they made a decision to go with standard size rotors for some vehicles rather than wait for larger rotors so they could keep moving vehicles through production.. it was not unheard of peoples vehicles turning up missing options due to "shortages" and only finding out on handover/delivery.. yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

l imagine you are correct, my Defender came without a locking fuel cap due to "chip shortages" and l also got the white finishers inside that l hadn't ordered.
So l guess in that respect it's possible to have the "wrong" brakes for the specific model that you ordered. |
