Has anyone heard why Landrover have discontinued the P400e on the MY2024 Defenders.
Apparently you can only order the p300e now |

They're claiming it's because of the new European emissions rating....although I don't see them de-tuning the RRs!

Long time lurker overhere and had to respond to this, as I'm currently in the market for a hybrid Defender. I've heard through the grapevine, that they will bring the 6 cylinder PHEV from the RR(S) to the Defender line-up. Would make sense, as the PHEV is the strongest selling engine in countries/regions with strong regulations regarding (PH)EVs and the P300e just seems underpowered to me. They could solve that problem by adding a P460e or P550e.

That would make sense because the P300e looks underpowered now I would agree. Landrover seem to be pretty inconsistent with their defender engine roadmap since its launch.

Does make sense. The 4 pot with the hybrid was a no from me. Didn't even consider it.

I have a p400e and my thoughts are that it is is actually overpowered for what it is trying to be. My guess is that they are de-tuning it to lower emissions and sell more of them. No point in having an "environmentally friendly" tax-exempt car that still has a really high consumption. 2025 Defender 130 V8 (DOA, new one coming)

It’s still on the confugurator though?
For me i’d agree, as much as 6 cylinder would be great, it would be fairly woeful on fuel even with the battery, and self defeating surely? But i’d still love one and worry the residual of P400’s will tank!! |

Further to last comment, configurator is now changed and as rightly mentioned, now PHEV is P300e.
I know it’s not about acceleration or BHP figures but think you really are going to notice the extra 2 secs to 60mph day to day, i think it’s the extra HP /EV boost that makes it better day to day and hides it’s mass a bit. |

Couldnt agree more. The 400HP you rarely use but its wonderful to know its there!. My guess would be that you will soon see the P300e chip upgrades to take it up top the P400e performance. After all the P300e appears to be the same unit toned down. 2024 L663 110 Defender P400e Carpathian Grey
