Carrotbay,

The turbo actuator on my install clears. It’s close but it clears. The plug housing touches the steering box but I may get away with it. Otherwise, just need to trim the housing a bit.

Thanks MJ - really useful
I got my engine in this week and I’m probably a few mm further forward as the actuator plug is very tight against the steering box. I’m going to space it back a little on it’s mounting bolts and that should do the trick.
Good to see the belts, just waiting for some bits to arrive and that should sort that. What are you doing for power steering hoses?

Hi Carrotbay, regarding the power steering hoses I read that off the shelf 200tdi are a direct fit so could be worth a look to save a few quid, Ive noticed people offering a conversion for double the price of these Shocked

I used the original 200 tdi high pressure pipe tweaked to suit the pumps location and used just hose for the low pressure return, no fancy kit used.

Hi Jason,

I used 300tdi mounts that i welded in as it was originally setup for a V8. I bought them from MWmachines but he now has mounts that will work with the chassis Td5 ones so no cutting or welding Very Happy

Thanks Shane. M57 running on a PUMA here and the concern is how to clear the steering box. I am checking with Mahker first as Dave has a point with engine sitting lower and flush. But then again, will it clear? 🤔

BTW- is your car running now? Any vibrations? How did you manage the DPF filter to ECU operation and connecting the external airbox?

I know its no help but I got a new bracket made to essential flip the turbo actuator arm and now clears the steering box.

Yep finally running thank god Very Happy no vibrations, like a mouse heart ticking over. I got the EGR, DPF, Immob and EWS erased out of the ECU by Will at House of Torque.

Also which I haven't just done yet is, I bought a 535D rocker cover, these use a remote air box and air flow sensor. Plan is to fit this cover run a remote air filter and connect to a snorkel. Allisport make a M57 air filter housing but its not listed on their site

Here's the part numbers, I see there's a few on Ebay

11128507607 / 11127812894 / 11128578811

My defender is 89 so thankfully its vintage and goes under a different set of guidelines then the newer vehicles Very Happy

Smart move, Shane!
And thanks for the part number.
Have you considered an E90 M57 306D5 oil sump as opposed to the E60 one. I understand the problem is the clearance, just wondering if I need to replace my E90 pan with an E60 upfront or not.

No problem Very Happy

I cant speak from experience but I say you should be fine with the E90 sump as long as its not X-Drive. Very Happy

Ive had a look and the E60 sump and E90 sump are different part numbers. Also be careful if you do change as you will need the matching pump and pickup tube
