What I do to prevent clogging of the washer jets is to add a tot of vinegar to the washer bottle.
And yes, keep a pin handy to unclog the jets --

And just like that I have discovered the perfect tools for the job. Having spent time over the last year trying to clean the jets with mixed success I have found two perfect tools for the job.
First a TeePee dental stick - red. Its bristles clean deep and remove the crap inside.
Seconds iPhone SIM card removal pin. It fits like a glove, won’t get stuck inside and is great for alignment.
Both now live alongside other defender ‘specialist’ tools in the cubby box.
