immobiliser problem
Landrover Defender 90 2010 model
I changed the Key fob battery after noticing the lights didn’t flash when unlocking.
Now I cannot start the vehicle.
Even tried the spare key and that does not work.

Locking and unlocking work fine with both fobs.
Indicator lights flash as normal
Dashboard lights and immobiliser light are working.
The 12volt battery is good.
Interior lights are working.
When I turn the key to crank the engine nothing happens.
I have checked there is a supply from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid when the key is turned.
I have checked the relevant fuses.

After looking at other posts on this forum I have run out of ideas, do you think it could be a fault with the 10AS?

Thanks
Derek

Yes I have the EKA code, and tried that, but didn't appear to do anything to help. No horn beeps when using the code which suggested to me it was working.
Thanks

try this - disconnect the battery leaving the ignition at point II (on) give it ten to twenty mins, reconnect the battery (making sure the ignition is on) and you should be able to start it.

If you didnt resync the fobs before immobilizer went of ~5 mins from turning it off then you neeed to use the EKA to get it started and then resync the fobs within 5 mins.

Hello, yes I did resync the fobs after changing the battery and they both lock and unlock the vehicle as they did before. I will try your suggestion of disconnecting the 12 volt battery.
Thanks

I tried as you suggested and disconnected the 12 volt battery with the ignition switched on, and then waited before reconnecting it with the key in the ignition and switched on. To make the red immobiliser light go out I had to resync the fob and open and unlock the vehicle, then i tried to start it, but still nothing.

Just checking only 1 set of keys in the car at a time?
If both fobs are present it can freak out.

maybe worth checking the AS10 unit for corrosion - if not only other thing i can think of thats quick easy is to check the relays.

Maybe your rolling codes have gone out too far so may need to recode via a nanocom to resync AS10 and ECU.

if you cant get it going via EKA or resyncing.

I have just removed the 10AS (not easy to get to the screws), no sign of any corrosion. I am not sure I can split the box to have a look at the circuit board, it doesn't look easy.
I am now thinking about spending some money on a Nanocom Lite or similar. I assume these come from Cyprus looking at the Web Site, or do they have a place in England?
I tend to agree that the 10AS is not sending the start message to the ECU. Does the coil which fits around the ignition switch ever give problems, is there any checks I could do on that to make sure its working?

Thanks

the ignition switch can cause issues. sounds more like the codes have gone to far out of sync as this all started from key fob battery change.

if you can resync ecu and AS10 should start, but maybe worth retrying EKA as that should get it going.

You can also get a GAP diagnostic tool in the UK. However I am not sure about its capability to deal with the 10AS. Puma 110" SW

Double check that all your 10AS fuses are ok.

I’m assuming the vehicle started fine until you changed fob battery.

Any member close by with a Nanocom with a Puma licence can run an EMS resync between the 10AS and engine ECU , they can code keys as well. Worth seeing if any member nearby can assist.

It could be the transducer coil, however that would be a coincidence if it went faulty at the same time you changed the fob battery. Equally it could be the known instrument cluster issue, however that would also be a coincidence if it went faulty when fob battery changed.

Hello Ianh
Thanks for your reply.
I have checked the fuses and they are ok.
Yes no problems starting the engine, up to the time I changed the battery.
I have taken out the instrument cluster and tried a link across the connector as recommended.

I have decided to spend some money and purchase a Nanocom, but I assume it will take a week or two to arrive, so yes if there is anyone near me in the Wigan area with a Nanocom who could help in resetting the 10AS that would be helpful.
Thanks
