200TDi speedo lights
Been doing a bit of searching here and cant find the answer

the green filters in my 1985 speedo have melted meaning the black fittings on the back of the speed have nothing to screw down onto.

is there a way to open up the speedo and replace the filters? Seems like the front bezel is pressed into the casing - looks impossible to me.

do i just need to buy a new one? 2010 90 LHD soft top

I replaced mine with Green Led Bulbs and held them in place with a bit of bluetack. Many many miles later still going strong! Running Restoration Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/post323197.html#323197

I superglued the black bits to the back of the dash and put up with white light

I broke the black bits off being careful not to get any parts in the housing and put rubber grommets in the holes. Then I used after market green LEDs which when pushed in fit very snug so won't be coming out any time soon and will hopfully still keep dirt and dust out, they don't get overly warm, eat less energy to run and should last a good while.

I would say the only potential downside is just how bright they are if you are out in the middle of nowhere with no street lights (it pretty much illuminates the cab green, but does look quite cool).

my dad has the same issue, Speeding cables i think its called. might be able to fix it. But you can buy replacement units for these. My dad has decided to tell the company who is rebuilding his to fit a new speedo. Thumbs Up expensive, but these are a pain in the 4rse if you even go anywhere near, my dad found that out when he bought a cheap second hand one to faff with.
