Belt and braces option: fit a Gwynne Lewis Mud Flap kit
- Stepped tub https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/defende...ub-gl1003/ - Square tub https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/product/defende...ub-gl1008/ Quick fix - bolt back on with repair washers Slightly less pikey fix - fit a length of aluminium angle along the bottom of the panel and refit flap > 110 XS Double Cab |

I just used a length of aluminium left over from some old secondary glazing. Much cheaper.

It's a very common problem, more a matter of "when" than "if".
I bonded a length of aluminium angle with Sikaflex to reinforce the inside bottom angle of the of the wing and have had no trouble with then since. IN fact the repair was sufficiently strong to mean that some time later when I reversed over one mudflap on rough terrain the mudflap (rubber) pulled off the bracket, damaging neither, and could simply be reattached. The bracket stayed firmly attached. |

I have fitted a length of alu. My only thoughts being...
If the flap was to catch on something then the bracket bolt pulls out and the flap hangs. No major issue. However if we reinforce the section then the weak link is removed. If the flap was to catch now could it pull the whole tub/wing side in with it? > 110 XS Double Cab |

As noted in my second para above, when I reversed over my reinforced mudflap and ripped it off, it just popped the rubber off the rivets which had attached the rubber to the bracket, and did no damage to the bracket or the rubber, nor to the wing.
