erm 🤔 thanks ill check, I've started to put new brake discs, pads, calipers and bearings on the rear this week, one side done, and found the drivers rear caliper Pistons were rusted solid, and probably not working.

Is this a 2.4 or 2.2?
If it’s a 2.2 then test it with the TC Turned off. If it’s a 2.4 - I believe press the brake peddle 10 times with the ignition on before starting and that will disable the TC? See if it stops doing it or if it’s a permanent fault. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS. |

Check abs sensor connectors on loom from sensor to body loom as well as suggestions mentioned above. Cheers

The drive member is the part that connects the internal splined shaft inside the axle to the hub. They are located outboard of the hub and held on with 5 bolts. Assuming rears aren't one pice there will be a plastic dust cap on the end of the drive member. Remove the dust cap and see if it's a dusty red or nice and oiled and whether the drive member can slop on the splines. Arr right I know the one now, mine was oily on the rear riverside, but the one on the front is dusty red, what's would this mean please?

That means the splines have some or significant “fretting” basically wear, and is common and especially with genuine parts. The LR gengine fitted DM’s often get dry or water in them.
It maybe not that, but as JST mentions if you see excess movement there and slop then you MAY have found the problem and it might only be on just one side of one axle. There is probably a typical wear estimate of degrees of allowable slop, what that is I don’t know. If it’s on the rear if there is plenty of movement with the handbrake on parked up that’s a sign as well. Spray some spray grease in the splines if it makes a difference that might tell you, if so then you have likely found it. With good halfshaft splines and DM”s only a couple of degrees of slop is present if that. I am wondering if the noise is possibly the splines slipping on one hub in the DM, it maybe just the only one. You might be able for the time being get away with fitting a HD DM like Ashcrofts, which is cheaper than new DM’s and shafts but you really need to determine it is that. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
