Clean up the earth that connects to the transfer box, even if it looks ok clean it up

This earth does seem to cause a few issues. Is there an improved connector or method available? WARNING.

Basically it’s exposed to extreme conditions, extreme vibration, moisture, temperature changes and the most likely culprit is during any transmission work such as a clutch change it gets whipped off, and then screwed back on in a rush often at the end of a job.
It can then be dirty, not tightened up enough and things like that. Probably considering it’s quite a big job to change the clutch fatigue sets in and sometimes it just gets nipped up the nut on the thread or even left hand tight as I unfortunately experienced once. And that can cause the most strange issues such as indicate left, right indicator comes on. Hazard lights flash the entire dash lights, all due to the poor earth distribution via multiple circuits and voltage leakage. It’s a quite resilient design really, it’s just when it gets worked on and all electrical connections can degrade over time, especially those in harsh conditions. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

No list as such but from doing a few jobs I've noticed these.. The battery main earth cable has a bolted connection to the transfare box.. That same cable has a another spliced connection that has a bolted (I think) connection to the main chassis box section.. On the opposite (drivers side) I have a couple of earth connections on to the side of the transfare box.. And finally at the rear of the drivers side front wheel arch I have an earth strap from body work to chassis.. There is also a multiple earthing point on the bulkhead in the engine compartment which should be easily spotted.. That's all that come to mind.. But I'm sure there will be many more points around the vehicle for lights etc.. |

Can you describe the starting problem in more detail. How do you eventually start it, when it does not start?

After the car has been sat a while, a few days or weeks, not exactly sure, the problem occurs. Turn the key and nothing happens other than a click. This might repeat 2 or 3 times then it bursts into like as normal.
Alway kept on a CTek, I always let the glow plug light go out. Issue doesn't seem to occur if it's been used recently. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS |
