I have come to the conclusion I will never buy OEM steps again, the aftermarket copies are fine and a 5th of the price. When it comes to sell I either remove them or replace them with fresh ones either way I haven't paid the extortionate cost JLR charge, the mark up must be huge. And as for fitting cost at the dealer don't get me started it took me less than an hour to do the ones on my 110. As long as your a bit handy with the tools and not afraid to get underneath with a multitool its dead easy.

The OEM classic mudflaps took me longer to fit, I refused to read the instructions Laughing 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Genuine for me, shop around. Bought and fitted by the dealer for less than £900. Covered by warranty, not that I’ve made a claim on accessories.

Not sure how you're going to need the warranty on side steps but for many the genuine JLR accessories are the way to go and l fully understand that.

Well, after 12 months l finally got around to removing the side steps and fitting them the right way round.

Having removed the tube, l found corrosion had already taken hold on the brackets. The black paint was mostly gone.

This is Land Rover OE parts.

It will be aftermarket for me next time. Although fortunately l got these for half price from someone who took them off their new Defender.

I’ll be fitting the cheaper and superior versions to OEM from www.sidesteps.co.uk
No trims need removing either. Two small cuts in sill trim underneath and job done. MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung

You don't need to remove any trim to fit the OE steps.

Just fit the main bolts and not the unnecessary smaller side ones. But looking at mine after 12 months on the vehicle l would say you may as well get the £200 Ebay copies. You'll get four sets for the price of one OE set.

Just after some help as a new member on here. In Jan, I bought some used OE side steps from eBay for my L663 Defender 90.

They came with am after market fitting kit. When I unpacked them, there were two sets of front mounting brackets. I contacted the seller and the Sent me a fresh fitting kit, which I checked and had a full set of brackets.

Due to other commitments, I only got round to fitting them this week. The rear brackets hang down shorter than the front and it definitely is not right. On checking the instructions, I think I have been set the brackets for a 110.

LR don't sell just the fitting kit for the oem steps

From what I can tell, the front and rear brackets on the 90 are round about the same size, and I've managed to establish that the 110 and 90 brackets are identical. So my question is. Does anyone with 90 steps know if the front and rear same handed brackets on a 90 are identical? Tbe OEM ones have different parts numbers for each braket, bur that maybe because the rear ones are marked as 90 or 110 accordingly.

I'm wondering if the kit I was sent originally with two sets of front brackets may just be ok.

I’m not sure about a 90 but the front and rear brackets are different on a 110 MY23 D250 Defender 110 X-Dynamic SE, Carpathian Grey, 7 Seat, Electric Towbar

I had a similar issue with my aftermarket steps. They didn’t fit parallel with the car body. I queried the supplier who said front and rear brackets are the same. I ended up putting a few washers between the mount and the body to even it all up.
