That’s really interesting. Thumbs Up

I wonder what the permitted weights are, I expect the 5th wheel hitch is higher nose weight than a ball and hitch set up.
Isn’t LR towing weight Approx upto 3.5T but in reality can do more I would have thought. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

I’m sure i saw something once about towing capacity being 4+ tonnes of air brakes were fitted. But essentially it’s so specialist it’s out of reach to regular folk 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone
2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone
2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW

In the UK there will also be restrictions based on your licence and how the vehicle is registered.

All the leafers were rated to 4 tons GTW with coupled brakes, I've never seen figures for coilers. 3.5 tonnes GTW is the legal maximum for a ball hitch and for overrun brakes.

Max trailer weight is 3.5t with over run brakes, 4 t with coupled air brakes IIRC, GTW (gross train weight - car, load, passengers, trailer and load) is considerably more than 3.5t.

Sorry, I was using the abbreviation GTW to mean "Gross Trailer Weight" not gross train weight, showing my age again. I should have been explicit and unambiguous.

I've seen mostly movie makers tractor units running around with ball hitched RV trailers, presuming they are a bigger ball or something American, but definitely a ball and definitely over 3500kg. Coupled brakes too.
