Wales 2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Zermatt Silver
Clutch change.
Biting the bullet and getting the clutch changed on my 2.4

I’ve been on LOF website and decided on the complete road spec kit with the crank seal etc etc etc, upgraded output shaft and renewing the master cylinder as advised by LOF.

Is there anything else to consider doing while the box is off? 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

More or less what I did... Twice😩🤣.. Because my crankshaft oil seal leaked first time..
I took the opportunity to extend the gearbox breather hose while it was out..
It normally terminates in a void in the bell housing casting but I found it flapping around on top of the box when it was removed..
Check your transfare box output seals for leaks... Easier to sort them while it's out👍

I wouldn’t change the crank seal unless it is leaking, they can be problematic.
But they are best left alone I think unless they are leaking. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Re the master cylinder,

I’m assuming you did not purchase a LOF Powermaster cylinder as you can’t fit one of them until the clutch has done a few thousand miles. Just thought it worth mentioning.

From LOF on their Powermaster cylinder
* Please do not fit with a brand new clutch until it is fully bedded in- reason being a new clutch has a low biting point, and the LOF master also lowers the biting point somewhat, therefore combined it can be awkward to Drive, hence it is best to bed any new clutch in for 3-4000 miles before fitting, allowing for the biting point to rise up to a middle ground*

I would also change the gearbox and transfer box supports. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD)

I wish I could find a reason to fit one, but even a standard Defender is way above my abilities off road. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

I have seen just a standard TRW master cylinder being advised as a replacement part? Rather than upgrade to the LOF. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Had a quote of £1,600 supplied and fitted, inc a 12 month warranty on the parts as the garage is LOF approved.

That’s the road spec clutch bundle and the LOF extreme output shaft. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Out of interest where did you get that quote? Presumably Promec or Defender Upgrades if they're LOF approved? > 110 XS Double Cab

Recommendations
Good Morning,

I am off to france in early June and my master cylinder is just starting to stick. So I thought I would get the clutch changed at the same time.

Any recommendations (I have the LOF clutch already).... East Midlands.

Defender is booked in for next week Mr. Green

Looking forward to seeing the improvements of a new, non rattling clutch and to see what difference a 1 piece output shaft makes to the driveline. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.
