Half-Door 110 Puma alarm activation issues.
Hi Guys,

I've just converted a 2012 Land Rover Defender Puma 2.2 110 from a 5-door station wagon to a soft-top with half doors. The half-door conversion means there is no longer central locking and electric windows.

The issue I'm having is that when 'locking' the vehicle with the remote (to set the alarm), it hoots twice - much like a standard 110 station wagon would if one left a door open and pressed the lock button on the remote. I've checked all the courtesy switches on the door pillars, and they all work correctly; opening the doors results in the interior light coming on and the alarm going off when set.

I've disabled the horn activating when locking the car using a nanocom. However, I've noticed that the hazards don't blink - so it's tough to know whether the alarm has been set. But they do blink when the vehicle is unlocked, turning off the alarm.

Does anyone know how to force the hazards to flash when the vehicle is 'locked'?

I assume this is happening because the ECU recognised that the central locking isn't activating. When removing the doors, I just unclipped the electrical connectors on them, so the door cabling within the door pillars is still in place. So, I'm hoping there might be as simple as an open circuit that must be closed.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions! Bow down
Freddie

I have a similar problem. In my case a Puma 90. Just had a respray, so lots of panel and electrical disturbance but now when I press the fob to lock the car it locks and the horn alarm toots twice. The indicators do not flash. It unlocks from the fob ok.
I did notice a sleeved white wire hanging down by the drivers door hinge that has nowhere to go, perhaps it is the culprit but where should it go? Wiring diagram shows several white wires. The white wire could also be nothing to do with the problem.
Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks. 2.2 90 XS

You could trick the ECU into thinking the central locking actuators are still there by adding a resistor between the two pins in the (now unplugged) connector. Not sure what ohmage it would need to be, you could measure the resistance across the removed actuators? > 110 XS Double Cab
