Should have called the new Land Rover, "The Land Rover Perseverance."
I'd probably be one of the people looking for a manual gearbox, as that is all I have ever driven. It seems from reading around that the Grenadier does have it's issues including what Land Rover term "water ingress". People saying back up from INEOS is poor. I cannot understand this as doubtless Mr Ratcliffe is driving one. I am sure any issues that he has experienced, he has told INEOS to fix them. l would still have a Grenadier in a heartbeat if it was available in a Commercial version. l would want to try and do something about the front bumper though, it's hideous. An A-bar breaks up the massive "chin" and makes it look better. Maybe someone will come up with an aftermarket one, like on the Jeep Wrangler, which is even worse in that respect.
I also prefer a manual gearbox although the auto grew on me after a few thousand miles. Sadly manual gearboxes seem to be on the decline and will disappear completely in time, as vehicles become electric. |

The vehicle is based on the structure that was used for the first sports off-road vehicles, before they were “urbanised” into sport utility vehicles, mainly for on-road use. But seen with style, courtesy of Giugiaro. Massif is a genuine, go-anywhere off-road vehicle with high performance and able to tackle extreme off-road terrain with ease. It boasts a fully-laden gradeability of 100%, an approach angle of 50°, a departure angle of 30° and a ramp angle of 24°. Its fording capability in standard trim is 500 mm and its under-axle ground clearance is 200 mm with standard wheels and tyres. The Ineos aftermarket service was always going to be Jim's downfall.
Trying to start a new network with minimal amounts of vehicles on the road (and thus minimal amounts of work for the dealers) was going to be a challenge. That's not to underestimate the enormous mountain his team have climbed in producing a new vehicle and dealer network from scratch. I think there will become a make or break point. Jim is a business man and at some point he will see mounting losses and pull the plug on the project. Just my take on it, but I cannot see the Grenadier ever being profitable and he won't keep pumping money in. He has done what he said he is going to do and at some point I would never be at all surprised to hear it is coming to an end. That's just my view. |

l hope that the Grenadier succeeds.
lneos have a slightly smaller version in the wings so they're clearly planning to expand the range. And it's an EV so that should be interesting. |

Same. It's a bold project that deserves to succeed just from the shear balls of creating a new 4X4 off-roader from scratch.
Sadly people, and there are some on here, who are too willing to denigrate things rather than celebrate the ambition, vision, passion and risk that people / companies take to create something new from scratch. Also don't forget the Suzuki Jimny! The new version particularly.
This is pretty much an old Defender but smaller. Although it's about the same size as a Series 1. The underpinnings are the same, live axles with coil springs, and mechanical transfer box lever with low range. The engine is just over 100bhp and is fine for this vehicle, plus it's a petrol unit so none of the DPF issues. And it does around 40mpg The interior is all plastic which is great in a utility vehicle as it's easy to clean and long lasting. lt does have HDC and traction control, and it's just awesome off road. On road, ignore the road testers used to driving Range Rovers. So long as you keep to the legal limit it's absolutely fine. Reliability is legendary. There are no common faults, l repeat none. Rust proofing when new is a good idea although owners have only reported surface rust on suspension components. It's got cruise, heated seats, Apple Car play, climate control, superb LED headlights, and can tow 1300kg The only disadvantage is it's just a bit small. But there's now a five door version although not in the U.K. |

I did notice he or the graphics person spelt "concerns" with an "s" giving "conserns".
