The Castrol EPX is what should be used in the Defender diffs. The Syntrax Longlife is used in the Defender T-Box, but is also used in the D3/RRS diffs in place of the SAF-X0 that was originally specified.
It's all about additives now. ![]() |

So would I be mad to just put straight forward EP90 gear oil in Diffs and transfer box ?

It would not matter as long it is GL-5 (for diffs). GL-4 is good enough for the Tbox. Puma 110" SW

Just checked the can, It's Carlube EP90 API GL-5.
So I guess I'm alright with that. Just on the issue I find ATF gives smoother changes than MTF94 in my R380 box, doesn't seem to be any excess filings or anything at changes (do it every 12k miles), I presume it's not having an adverse effect on the box. |
