a bloke up the street used to own a few SD1s and Rover 800s in fact i think his wife owned a rover metro too. He Binned off the SD1 for a Jag and kept the rover 800. 10 years ago, the bloke must have retired, and switched the 800 for a SD1, i did take a photo of it years ago. He kept that for a good while, but now owns an MG roaster with wire wheels and chrome bumper, and he still owns the jag, His wife now owns a BMW mini. Since i have lived here, he has always had the big cars and always a British one on the driveway. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Hi, how strange is that, we were visiting our friends on Exmoor at the weekend and on Saturday they went to a pony club meet over near Glastonbury and there was a Rover SD1 Vitesse in metallic light blue, it was always a car that I fancied owning but never got around to buying one 👍 cheers Paul

They are a real rarity these days.
I wonder how many cars were scraped to provide V8’s for series Land Rover’s and kit cars in the 80’s? I think that light metallic blue was called Zircon Blue. Like most Rover’s of the day, well most cars of that era, it contrasted the bubbling corrosion nicely |

Used to own an SD1, could almost see it rustling before your eyes. It blew a head gasket replaced it and it was the first and only time an engine started on first turn, made such an impression on me that I still remember it to this day Jumped ship to reliability - Mitsubishi L200

SD1 were revolutionary in design but predictably poorly executed by BL much like the RRC.
Always fancies a SD1, but never dared to pull the trigger on one. I hate dealing with rust. Now in France maybe one day I fancy a big Citroen, they are easy enough to get here with some good survivors. |

My best pals dad had this Triumph Pi 2500 when we were at school. It had a James Bond style hidden overdrive switch inside the gear stick knob. I goto many classic car shows and this was the first I’d come across in years.
