2016 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 HCPU Santorini Black
Painting a 110
Morning,

I have locals for most things Defender based. Paint isn't one of them.

A Defender is a fussy old thing to paint and my 110 really needs a new paint job. I like it done right and don't want my door hinges bolts just blown over. Same for tub rivets line behind the back doors.

If anyone has had a good paint done, then recommendations gladly accepted. Will travel.

CSK automotive specialise in our 316 defenders and have a paint shop, about 60 miles from you but worth a call.

I’d definitely go for Chris if you are within range, sadly a long way from me though.

Most of the work is, prep and masking, and the prep, methodical cleanliness and correct grade products.
But for the best jobs, you really could do with the right environment and that is a paint booth as the humidity levels needs to be less than 60% max, plus correct temp and ventilation etc.

I think about 21 to 24.C, at around 45 to 50% humidity or less is ideal, contaminants are the enemy as is moisture.
As far as I’m aware professional paint probably for a 110 is roughly £3300, approximately a bit less for some such as a 90 for a collage repaint.
Roof repaint for an example I’ve heard of Approx £600 too £800, as that a lot more simple to prepare and paint.
It’s not really the paint that is expensive, it’s the cost of the booth for energy I.e. heating and the labour, there is a lot of labour.

Don’t quote me exactly on the prices, they are roughly what I’ve heard of and depends on where in the country. You’d want a nice professionally done job otherwise you may as well DIY if not, the trouble is with the latter is you’d need perfect summer conditions and keeping contaminants at bay and having somewhere to do it also is a job in its self. For such a big job as a compete repaint then a full in-booth professional job is the best way to go. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️
