Excess movement is a sign of play, if in doubt swap them, they are relatively cheap really. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Yes for sure Steve. Cheers for that! Being the originals and done those kms, it's not a biggie. More a point of curiosity on my part, I guess.

Iโd imagine LR would suggest they are good for at least 80k miles, at a guess so Iโd imagine yours are well over that.
Corregations help wear them. You donโt hear so much about engine mounts, not many people have any issues with that. Seems like they last extremely well! I had the gearbox mounts changed on mine about 60k, I donโt think there was much point but they did have a little play in them Iโd say a small amount is normal.

Rubber generally tend to harden with time, develop cracks (rot), and can delaminate from the metal backing.
My mounts, at almost 12 years are still soft, show no rot, and still intact, albeit they are also skewed in shape. I do not worry about them. Note that there is a higher risk that the chassis around the mounting bracket that cracks than the mounting itself failing. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |
