Would this battery be a good replacement for my 1998 300 TDI.

Sure, if it is the right dimension etc. usually there's a number on your existing battery, like 096 that is a code for the dimensions and which side + and - are on. Just buy one with the same number as you have and it'll be ok.

IIRC and it has been a while. The biggest battery that can fi tin to the box is a 663 which is a 110Ah battery. Cannot go wrong in winter with a 110Ah and 750 CCA under the seat. Thumbs Up

I'd like to think you're sorted by now, but, for anyone else reading later, these also fit -

They are a fair bit longer than the 663 but do fit.


One point that I can't confirm is if the stock tie down will work. I'm not sure if the slots in the bottom of the battery tray are far enough apart. I'm pretty sure they are (from looking at mine) but as I've lost my j bar things currently, I can't say with absolute certainty.
