Drum on mine, never had an issue in 14 years. I kind of feel that it’s one of those, it doesn’t break, don’t fix it.

Why does the disc handbrake rattle is it the shoes on the brake not backing out enough? ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

It's the pads I believe.. Especially the so called fixed one.. They are both just loose fitted into the calliper held in place as supplied by a bit mastic.. So they eventually do rattle.. There are fixes I've seen on the tube if it annoys you.. If you hear the rattle you do know the calliper has backed off and isn't exerting any pressure on the pads👍😅..
I have on occasion heard it and just lifted the hb lever a fraction and it disappears😂

I believe the X Eng disc system was developed for off roaders to deal with the problem of the drum getting full of mud and water.

My view is that if you rarely immerse the drum in water or mud it’s a perfectly good system that requires little or no maintenance. If the shoes are properly adjusted they will never wear out, and only very occasional adjustment will be needed, probably due to components stretching. 2011 130 Utility Body
