yeah i have been there, with a simple, welding repair, which turns out to be mega job. Also you do start to unearth bodges. I have ended up having to replace a full cars body loom due to the previous owner did with the stalks, He fitted a R100 steering column, to a Rover metro. The R100 used the honda system, compared to the Austin Rover system. He had cut wires and spliced, to the point there was no hazard switch! The laugh was the car was practically stripped, so all he had to do was remove the dash and fit the donor car loom, that he had removed from the donor R100, he had got the steering column off. Not a hard job to do at all, Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it!

Wee distraction from the re build, which is progressing slowly. New tub mounted bike rack, works well, the joys of e bikes they are quite heavy to lift up but least its not as high as the roof. Old dear going to make a custom cover so stuff in the tub dryiish and hidden.

Bit of progress on the re build, quite liking the colour coded centre console and the new kenwood unit looks quite neat. Another few days work and it should be done. Never, ever tackling something like this again. It's been stressful and painful at times. I'm not sure I would recommend an ultra bulkhead been loads of issues with things just not lining up or holes in the wrong places.

Finally only have some minor interior jobs to finish off now, this has been an absolute slog but I think she is looking pretty good now. Never want to tackle anything like this ever again.........

New seats arrived today, exmoor trim elite in black leather with diamond stitching, very happy........ although the cubby box looks a bit crap now lol

Also fitted the new second hand optimill door handles that I picked up at vastly less than retail price. Bit fiddly to fit but feel so much better than the old plastic ones that had seen better days.

Another half day of finishing off and she should be finally done, well for now anyway.

MOT passed today, just an advisory on front brake discs being slightly pitted, probably down to lack of use this last while. More new seals arriving any minute, hopefully this will sort the leak between the windscreen and the roof. Hate to think how much I have spent on bloody seals.........

Next jobs are the roamerdrive and fluids in the axles and gearbox. 23my p400e x dynamic hse, fuji white, towing pack, comfort and convenience, e diff, activity key, 3 zone climate, cold climate and a host of accessories. Now gone.

I’ve only just come across your build, Kiter. Excellent job getting the bulkhead sorted yourself. You now know, at least, how everything is mounted and connected and can be confident in your own work. Charlie
