I was referring to the OP:
The internal wiring of both switch types is different. You probably wont damage anything but it wont work either. It's not just that one latches and the other doesn't. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Well this gets more and more daft. Frosty this morning so popped the s reen on (worth a shot I thought), no light, oh well got out and scraped a bit of frost off so I could see out. Set off and after a few minutes flicked the wipers and the frost came off. That's odd I thought. The heated screen was on! I then noticed the telltale was now lit. I've tried it a few times today and it all appears to be working as it should, hot screen and light lit. Very confusing. A total failure is of course easier to sort than a transient fault. 2011 110 USW

You’ve got a loose connection somewhere. The telltale is connected to the feed to the screen, no telltale = no power to screen.
The logic goes like this: The switch sends a pulse to the timer unit. When it receives this, the timer unit sends an output to the relay coil if the engine is running. Relay outputs to screen and telltale. The timer unit sends that coil output for the timer duration (10 mins?) or until the engine stops or it receives another pulse from the switch. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Yes I get that. I only touched the dash end of everything so presumably it was the dash switch connection? As its currently working I suppose all I can do is keep an eye on it! 2011 110 USW
