That is very bizarre, but actually ‘good’ news.
Would you want to buy it back for sentimental reasons? Were there any criminal proceedings as a result of its recovery? |

The insurance company did ask if I wanted it back, but not knowing what condition it was in as the vehicle would be 22 years old now, it could be a rot box or could be that someone as spent thousands on keeping it on the road.
I wonder how it was picked up as stolen, was it involved in an accident, was it caught without tax or MOT, as whoever stole it changed the ID of the vehicle and was it only picked up as stolen either by the engine number or VIN number. We shall see what develops after the NFU as recovered it from the recovery firm. |

Surprised the police still had the records. Has it perhaps been standing in their stolen goods yard for the last 16 years and they've now found the papers behind a filing cabinet?

you will be surprised on what shows up after all these years, i remember reading in the paper about some park down south getting dredged, or something a long those lines. When they came to do the job, they dragged a fare few cars out of the pond. I think they ran the reg on one of the cars that was a capri. The results had come back, that it had stolen from the owners drive way back in the 90s. So that would have been fun for the owner to hear that his capri had been found a lot of years later. My 90 was stolen about 2001-ish, things were quiet for a while until it was spotted with a stolen JCB. The JCB put it's bucket through the back wall of a village post office, scooped up the safe and dropped it into my 90. Things then went quiet again. The police contacted me about 3 years later and said that somebody had applied for a log book for it. I explained that i had been paid by the insurance company so it belonged to them but i'd be interested to hear what happened. It's been MOT'd under it's original ID since 2006 but i was never contacted about it.

You are absolutely certain that you weren’t driving your 90 when the JCB emptied its bucket…
