I’ve replaced the ecu to pedal a few times, and never had any issues just using trailer cable (so enough wires) and joined via cutting and soldering in place. So sorry never needed to find Header 0291

On your picture it shows wires on the top left. These have a number of 160 on the end. The 160 is their length in mm’s.
B=black 1.5=gauge of wire 160=length. So the header is only 160mm from ecu. |

You've not bypassed the pedal wiring correctly. The loss of glow warning shows you've mixed up the Black/Yellow for glow plug warning light with the one you meant to use for the pedal. Easily done as LR used the same colours for multiple things on the Td5 ECU loom, and the pinout numbering isn't intuitive (it zig-zags).
This is the face (not wires side) of the connector. Click image to enlarge Headers just join wires together. So for the pedal, the white/purple from the ECU is split into two to go to the pedal. Looking at the full pedal wiring diagram for 1999-2001MY: Click image to enlarge You need these terminals: Click image to enlarge Remembering this is the non wire side. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Hi Martin
Thanks for the reply. So to be sure, to be sure as it were. Which actual wire goes to which pin on the ECU? Thanks in advance |

The wiring diagram snippet I posted gives you the 6 at the pedal end going to the 4 at the ECU end. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

No problem. That is what this place is for.
I’m learning too, I didn’t know about the wire length info, or the pin number info on the drawings till looking into this for you, so we are all learning. Apart from Martin as he’s the wiring god when it comes to this stuff. From what Martin is writing it sounds like you have just picked the wrong Black Yellow. Possibly you’ve used 30 ??? Keep us up to date on how it’s going. Last edited by landy andy on 22nd Nov 2023 9:01am. Edited 1 time in total |

Hi Landy Andy. Spot on! I selected wrong black yellow connection. Many thanks to yourself and Martin.
Regarding the symptoms I had regarding amber management light and no throttle response, only tickover. Is there anything else I could also check out? |

The symptoms for failed ecu-pedal in my experience has always been.
Start engine, everything ok, no warning lights, touch pedal, no increase in revs, warning light on. Or drive through puddle, zero throttle response, warning light on, restart then as above. Starts ok, till you touch pedal. You could check you crank sensor and it’s wiring, but think you are on correct track |
