Sorry to hear that
Typical JLR, ‘fix’ a known problem by detuning via the software instead of sorting the problem LR Time did a series of rebuilding this engine where the previous owner ad the same experience as you. ?si=JBDDfcx5Th63y_En |

Sorry to hear that.
Someone should design a badge so you can all recognise each other. For my penny's worth, I'd stick another engine in it. Buy a short block and move everything across. There's not much out there to repave the D4 with. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy. |

That really does ‘suck.’
I hope that you find an economical and practical solution 👍 |

Try and get it recovered to "QP Online" they are based very close to dover, they specialise in rebuilding Disco and Range Rover engines and may be a better option might even be cheaper. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Yeah these videos from LR Time are excellent. Thorough and detailed like you would expect from Germans, but so entertaining, which well is a little bit surprising.. It highlights the challenge I am facing well.
When the engine failed I was actually on my way to a short vacation. We had the car recovered to our home quickly so we could grab another car and just arrived a little later to our destination (I admit I have too many cars). Doing a little bit of research online I think it is quite plausible I might just need to write this off as a bad (Euro 14k) experience. I suppose many people suffered far greater losses than me, but still put a bit of a dent in my LR ownership experience.. You can find used engines at about 5k euro, and yes I have swapped engines before but in this case you will need to lift the body, and we'll I cannot do that at home. So what will a shop charge? Will find out next week but won't be cheap, and obviously it will also not guarantee a problem free car (or maybe it is just my confidence that is a bit frail). |

So just to set the record straight here..
I have asked a few places for a quote to change the engine and that's about 15k euro. Bon, so we decided to put it up for sale as is and look for something else. The good news is that even dead they sell well, we had many interested parties and agreed to sell for 4k euro. The not so good news was that the buyer notified us that there was a mileage discrepancy which ( unbeknownst to me) you can look for in the public records. Turns out the instead of the indicated 225k km the car has done 390k km. The change was made in 2016, when the car was registered as being in the trade.. So first off, this was s pretty good engine lasting almost 400k (250kmiles). Second I obviously got screwed, but now wizer. Third I am glad I did not sink 15k in a 400k km car! You live and learn. Next car not going to be a tdv6 though. |

Sorry you’ve had such a negative journey.
Lessons there for others too. Hope something positive lands on your lap to offset this experience. Thanks for sharing 👍 |

Sorry to read of the issue you're facing. I've been in that situation previously where the car is too valuable to scrap but the rebuild also makes it worth more than market value. As for LR Times, agree - very through but they are a very likeable double team and the knowledge is there. This video really sums up the issues with Ford's Lion (TDV6) engine... ?feature=shared |
