Has anyone, or know somebody who has, done any serious towing with one of these yet?

3tns across a field and/or long distance etc

Try Harry's Garage on Youtube

He's tested the Grenadier extensively including heavy towing.

"They say there is no such thing as a bad new car. They clearly haven’t driven this. Atrocious, dangerous thing that makes you wonder if it was signed off in the pub it was named after: “Yeah, that looks ok. Pint?”. Ineos has pumped in an extra €700m taking the total to €1.7bn." --

There's always going to be one person who doesn't like the vehicle at all.

There's no way his opinion is accurate, just read reviews from people who actually own a Grenadier. The vehicle isn't for everyone. But "atrocious" and "dangerous"

Typical from this type of motoring hack though.

I guess if he's used to driving McLarens and Lamborghini then it's going to feel a bit retro.

If your aim is to blend in and you measure everything to the common denominator of a Toyota Corolla you are going to be disappointed by anything different, including sports cars, vans, 4x4.

Lack of imagination

Unfortunately this is a phenomenon produced by social media and modern society, namely that utterly uninteresting and generally talentless people now think that they have valuable views and are interesting.

Evo, along with its precursors Performance Car and Fast Lane, was one of the greatest car magazines of all times. It is now a faded shadow of its former self and they seem to have to resort to incendiary comments like that to generate interest. It's just another example of the sort polarised extreme/exaggerated views that seem to dominate the media these days.

Of course, if you are the the editor of a magazine aimed at enthusiasts of fast road and track cars, the Grenadier is not going to be high up the list of greatest vehicles, that's fine fine. But, there's no need to do a hatchet job on it, and make no effort to understand what it might actually be intended for. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Ineos sponsored this years Super Karpata Trophy in Romania this year and one of the competitors did use a Grenadier.

If you have the translation app on your phone you should be able to read the article.

Why all the attacks on the Evo journo? I drove one yesterday for an hour or so as part of Ineos’ test drives at some estate in Wales. The ‘lump’ in the footwell was an issue for me (I’m 6’5” with size 13 feet), as was the B pillar visibility and seat not going low enough. Petrol engine on the road was blunted horribly by the weight and fuel consumption really poor as a result. I agree, on road steering crap and overall refinement. Turning circle of an oil tanker. Interior ergonomics not to my taste- the overhead panel a gimmick designed to appeal to 14 year olds. I thought screens a bit naff. Reversing camera a joke. Non flat load bed a poor design IMHO. Aftermarket glass ‘safari’ roofs quite retro. Off road on more challenging stuff than they’d do at Eastnor it was good and felt very stiff. I did the off road in the diesel which had good low down grunt. So, horses for courses really. My last Defender was an XS station wagon with full soundproofing from new, ECU upgrade and Red Booster clutch - on road it wasn’t significantly ’worse’ and had better looks and practicality. Again, IMHO. The Grenadier may be perfect for some but I can’t help but think it’s a small market (particularly as the pickup doesn’t qualify for vat relief)

Hi all

96 now up for sale on Auto Trader with the cheapest at £53,600 going up to £75,995.

The cheapest Field Master with 1500 miles on the clock is up for £59,995.

Not sure how these prices correlate between the new price for the various models?

Jim

This is for only 8000 miles!

Not really a particularly good deal in my book, especially if you think about the size of the deposit!

Anyone else noticed the Grenadiers exhausts are pea-shooters Rolling Eyes Look about the same size as my old Fiat Uno's exhaust...
