Heated Rear Window Switch
Quick Q guys (not had chance to head out with my multimeter yet).

Should the switch for the rear window heater illuminate when it's switched on? Rgds.

Oddly, no. The indicator for the HRW is in the instrument cluster rather than on the switch, completely unlike that for the front screen. Darren

On a Puma? The switch does have an LED though. - I just realised I've never ever turned it on in the eight years of our ownership Smile

I've got a 2.2l 2014 truck.. The front screen has to have the engine running to stay on.. With an illuminated led in the switch..
The rear will come on with the ignition on and has an indicator light in the switch and the dash has a symbol that lights.. ๐Ÿ‘

Ha, funny the things that you miss. I've never noticed the LED on the HRW switch before. I shall have to go and take a look now Laughing Darren

Yes it does have an LED, and itโ€™s switched on using the supply to the switch rather than feedback from the screen circuit (unlike the front screen).  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Thanks everybody - something is amiss methinks.

New rear screen but no demist. No LED on switch but that looks like it's not part of the issue?

Need to go over things with a multimeter. Rgds.

Fuse 15 covers the switch input side, but also other stuff including instrument cluster, headlamp relay, electric window/seats aux relay (if fitted). So you'd have other things also not operational - are all these OK?

The integral LED and the cluster warning light are both on the switch output which turns on the relay (not the HRW relay out to the window).

Yes I think this is your problem. The switch isn't sending an output to turn on the relay.

You might have a failed switch, or failed wire from the header where the ignition feed splits to supply all everything above.

Popping the switch out and probing the connector with a meter will tell you if the supply in is OK (ignition on).

Bridging the white/green to the white/black should give a click from the HRW relay and so turn on the screen.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Ok, just checked (pouring down here!) and there is no dash indicator when the switch is pushed in.

Will run a multimeter over it when the rain abates. Rgds.

Annoyingly, because it's a blue plug switch it can't easily (without modifying the plug or switch) be swapped with another non-identical switch.

Even then it would be the aircon or heated seat switch which not all Pumas are fitted with of course.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

It's very easy to remove the registration lug from a LR switch though.

For the key relating to the slot in the dash it goes in, yes. Not so easy for the plug.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
