If it starts and run fine, but as soon as throttle is pressed warning light comes on and then no throttle response. That is classic signs of the warn/chaffed/damaged potentiometer (throttle pedal).
Can’t help with a garage. |

Second the (electric) throttle paddle, possibly not helped by driving through deep water.
Despite what the sales brochures make you believe these cars are not quite invincible you know. I lived in Houston and cars (any cars) and deep water don't mix in the long run. Too many connectors and electronics that give up weeks/months after. Absolutely not worth wading into deep water, unless you are in a true emergency that would justify you potentially writing off your vehicle and even then going slow is better than fast. |

Plug in a scan tool it will likely tell you the throttle pedal switch is not working. You can remove it and try cleaning the plug and pins but when it fails its usually the pot in the pedal assembly, but worth a shot.

I had the same issue a few months back. Driving along in the rain when suddenly the accelerator stopped doing anything, engine went to idle with MIL light on. Ignition off and on fixed it, it's not happened since.
As far as I know, only the Throttle position sensor or Crank position sensor can trigger the MIL warning light. The engine will not run if it was the CPS so definitely the throttle or throttle wiring at fault. Most of the time a wire will have rubbed somewhere (usually against the gearbox) causing a loss of continuity or a short to earth. I tried 500 volts down each of the 4 wires between the ECU plug and the throttle plug (disconnect ECU, Radio and 10AS alarm unit (behind dash) before attempting such a thing! The 5v supply wire on the ECU plug had a small reading to the chassis so I got a new throttle loom only from "lukester0952" on ebay. Now I can't say for sure if it's fixed but I haven't had this issue since. Interestingly, there are two throttle peddles for the TD5, later version had 3 tracks, early TD5s had 2 track. The 2 track version is discontinued and unavailable, would be interesting to know if the three track can be used on the earlier TD5s? Last edited by mrd1990 on 25th Oct 2023 5:48pm. My understanding is the three point pedal can be installed in earlier 10P models…. Perhaps others can confirm this.

Thanks guys, has confirmed the advice I'd already given him. Have advised he gets in touch with Disco_Mikey who is not far from him & I'm sure will be able to get it sorted for him 👍
