If the key physically won't rotate the last click it suggests to me a mechanical problem and I would think it is more likely to be the lock barrel than the electrical switch on the end, but it is possible that the switch could have failed in a way which is causing an obstruction.
The switch can be removed from the barrel, and you could then try operating the switch with a screwdriver and/or the barrel with the key, and the fault should be easy to locate. Removing the switch without first removing the barrel is possible but exceptionally awkward, so it may be easier to remove the assembly first (also awkward since it is designed to be difficult for villains to remove). |

Hi Chris
I had a similar issue to yours. It turned out to be a roll pin had worked its way loose in the section between the key barrel and the ignition switch. When you have taken the part off the steering column you can carefully remove the cover as shown in the photo below (not mine) and check the mechanism inside. ![]() Click image to enlarge Andy |
