Help stuck won’t start.
Currently stuck with the caravan on the back. 2011 2.4Tdci

Stalled while manoeuvring the caravan. Tried the key nothing. Rolled to a safe stop.

Ignition lights come on but nothing when I turn the key further to start. Can’t remember if engine warning light comes on with ignition?? Tried disconnecting battery for a bit but still nothing. All other electrics work battery full. Feels funny on that last turn of the key to start. Any ideas??? Will have to try and find someone with a towbar to move the caravan.

Suggestion welcome.

Are you in a position to unhitch the caravan to try a jump start? Or even better, can you get someone just to pull you with a tow strap to jump start you. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Was going to ask if it would bump start. Had it stall long time ago and I’m sure it wouldn’t start while I was rolling but I’m on a hill so could try?

Definitely give it a go. Just don’t go too far down the hill if it puts you in any worse of a situation.

2nd gear would be my pick. Get a bit of momentum. If it starts then that would point me to your starter motor being at fault. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Thanks for all the tips.

I suspect the ignition barrel is not turning all the way to the start position.

Vehicle and caravan both moved after bump starting it.

I’m back at work next week and no time to look at properly so it’s outside my local garage for them to sort.

Thumbs Up

Just to let you know that it was indeed the ignition barrel that was faulty and wouldn’t turn. All fixed and back to normal.

Thumbs Up

Thank you, it is always good to hear that the problem has resolved and what the diagnosis was. It all helps build up the knowledge base.
