Hi all,
My sunroof has started to leak. It the older pull down handle type The previous owner used some black silicone to seal it shut. I was thinking of trying to seal it again but that won’t stop the condensation in winter. I started to consider replacing the roof with a non sunroof one but then I came across this https://vehicleglazingspecialists.com/inde...mp;path=86 Anyone fitted one or came across something similar? Do they actually stop condensation? Thanks 1989 Land Rover 110 CSW |

the answer to this may prove the are all sunroofs the same size or not. Saying that I ordered a sheet of aluminium anyway. Now just need to figure out where to get a small quantity of alpine white

In my experience sunroofs leak mainly because the various seals or drains age and go hard.
The Defender sunroof is a rather simple affair to remove and reseal and the seals are readily available. Surely this is simpler then covering it with a sheet of aluminium ? |

I have to agree with TR here. I have found that it is critical to clean and grease the main sunroof seal annually. I use a silicone grease on it and the door seals as it happens.
What is also critical with the LR sunroof is making sure the front hinges slide properly inside the plastic housings. If they do not the roof doesn't seal properly at the front. The whole glass have been designed to be removed for the fully open driving experience. Lovely on a summers day. |

Mine needed resealing between roof and sunroof, I’ve removed it and I’m
In the process of getting the seized screws that I had to drill out out of the sunroof. Meanwhile I’m thinking how it used to condensate and drip on me in the morning and wondering what the point is |

Hi Gilarion, no problem. It is SIFST720 silicone grease by Carbusonic. co.uk
This stuff https://www.carbusonic.co.uk/-500g-pure-si...ber-latex- Great for o-ring lubrication, or other hoses etc when fitting too. |

I asked a price for a roof from a breaker on eBay - £1300!!!! Seriously..
It’s raining and there’s a big gap in the roof so I got trigger happy and ordered this https://www.masai4x4.com/defender/shooting...s-c2993006 I was getting no where getting the screws out of the old one and didn’t fancy spending ages drilling them out to end up getting condensation dripped on again |

IMG I did not know that! Just fitted a (used) LR sunroof in my DCPU (it's garaged). Absolutely loving it, but it was quite mucky and have not cleaned it properly. Reading GB comments here I played with the lock, then the hinges and WOW it comes right out ! Fantastic thanks very much! |
