Maxis Worm Drives get a decent write up and are about £90 a corner less than the BFG and come in 235/85/16 and 265/75/16

Very nice.
I rung my local tyre supplier today. Supplies are very short on a lot of these tyres at the moment. However, he could offer me BFG's at £200 less than I could find them online so went with those.

I painted the "wolf" rims on both my 'Rovers the same colour so I could swap them between the two vehicles (one is blue the other black) and chose hammerite cream as the closest neutral and durable thing to Land-Rover limestone.

What a horrid paint to use!

Unlike other hammerite colours (sliver, black, white) it doesn't flow nicely off the brush seemingly starting to dry once it hits the surface being painted irrespective of outdoor temperature. I tried adding a drop of thinners and that didn't help much.

Anyone else found this?

I've thinned down smoothrite and sprayed it with pretty good results and I'm not a professional pain chap.

I finally got mine sorted and went for something a bit different as not keen on the black.

I might as well post my indecisive painting efforts last weekend on this thread as well. Fancying a change from black I went to limestone only to decide to go back to black

A bit of extra paint layers wont hurt. You have better protection to the steel below 👍 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Afternoon all,

A quick question regarding going from standard boost alloys to steels, wolfs in particular, hence asking in this thread.

Do they change the ride characteristics at all assuming they are fitted with the same tyre as the alloys? And if so how, does it change?

If anyone can please give their experience if they have done the swap from alloys.

Thanks 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW

Thanks LandRoverAnorak, I am just curious as I do like the wolf wheel and would consider changing my boosts.

Another factor is that my roof is in need of repainting at some point as the laquer is peeling badly, I am considering having it repainted LR white of the era and I think white steels would go well for more of a traditional look 🤔 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW

What size tyres do most people run on the wolf 235 or 255?

235 and 255 work very well with Wolf rims. It's just personal choice, mainly limited by tyre choice with 255 being available in MT only (BFG or Toyo). James
