TOYO tyres supply issues in the UK
Looks like they're mid re-structure, with

"...Toyo Tyre (UK) Ltd. in Great Britain, will successively cease their business activities from January 2025."

https://www.toyo.co.uk/news/new-company

They say they'll continue to sell into the UK etc but I'm after some now and can't find any, with tyre shops saying their suppliers don't have any, and that only container-loads can be bought.

If anybody has any Open Country 255 85 R16 M/T going, or knows the whereabouts of any please let me know,

Cheers

Same old story, Western European jobs shifted to a lower cost country with subsidies for new companies. Rolling Eyes

You've got to question the sanity of moving to Serbia of all places!
They don't have a reputation for being reasonable and level headed, given the history of genocide and allegiance with Russia.
Then they still do things like this in their parliament,

Ah well, that's Toyo off my list.

Yup, struggling to find anything mild-mud terrainy in the 255/85 size.

Fair bit more choice in 265/75 but would prefer decent turning circle / not sticking out too far with spacers.

Speed rating of K (68 mph Max ) is below spec for normal road use and would likely present some insurance issues for on road use.

Telling insurance companies I’m running BFG KM3 255/85r16 Q rated MT tyres has never caused any issues or increased my premium as they meet the load rating and exceed the speed limit of my 2.2 Puma.

Running a tyre that is not capable of the max uk speed limit and certainly not capable of the vehicle max speed is far more likely to cause an issue. That’s what I’m highlighting, sorry to shine a light on the fact, but a fact it remains.

So long as you declare the mods it’s not an issue,

Of course it wouldn't.... else why would such tyres exist in the first place.

There won't be any proof until there is a problem and a sharp eyed assurance assessor sees an odd tyre reads the speed rating and says it may have been a contributory factor in the accident & as an undeclared modification with a insufficient speed rated tyre we will not pay the claim.....

Can you imagine any insurance company saying 'Ok that will be alright' if you fit tyres that aren't capable of 70mph unless you've a proper calibrated speed limiter set to say 60?
