110 DCPU Truckman Leak
I’ve recently fitted a secondhand Truckman top to my 110 DCPU. It’s great, but there’s a massive gap between the forward end of it and the capping. I was advised to take off the canvas retention strip (not sure on technical term) at the front so I did, but was I meant to keep this on? Or am I meant to stop it leaking another way?
Many thanks in advance for any help!

I have been having the same thoughts as I have a Truckman top to go on my DCPU. After looking at one fitted at the show on Sunday, it seems that the top came with a different metal rail (quite thin looking sheet) which fitted along the front edge of the tub.

I am intending to use my original soft top drain rail thing to give the front of the top something to drain into. After offering it up at the weekend, it looks like it will need a little trimming off the ends to get it to fit neatly with the truckman.

I never posted to resolve this so I will now in case it helps you Steve. I got in touch with Truckman and managed to buy the correct bit of aluminium to replace the rail for holding the canvas on. It was about £30 and wasn’t a big job to fit (just a few rivets and some sealant) - I’ve had no issues since.

I had a 88 Series 3, which I converted to truck cab (light green absolutely gorgeous). I bought the truck cab topside from a farmer, but had to get some bits and bobs to make it fit. There was a gutter around the rear window and a gutter at the bottom where it met the tub.

I have a DCPU and it has none of this, but the back with the sliding window it not all that different. I wonder if there is a kit from same a Defender truck cab that you could fit to create a (more) watertight connection..

Cheers, coincidentally I had also spoken to Truckman today and ordered the 'Bulkhead Bracket' which will save me having to modify my soft top rail. Thumbs Up 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

Having bought a similar thing for my new HiLux, there is a large sticker inside it stating "water resistant NOT water proof"

I get a few little streams of damp on the join between the top of the tub capping and the bottom of the canopy.
