Is it definitely closing fully. Have you tried operating the latch by hand (tool) to make sure the latch is going fully round (2 clicks) then operating the CL.

There is so much play in the "heath robinson" linkage contraption you will find behind the door card that if it gets a bit stiff in places there will be an attempt for the solenoid/actuator to move things, but it just won't have enough "pull" to achieve it. If you take the door card off you'll see what needs a bit of grease and where - also I tend to give the solenoid a bit of wd40 as well.

It is known for these lock barrels to corrode internally and seize. The alternative explanation is that there has been a screwdriver inserted into the lock and mangled it (as has happened with Miffys lock). The only solution is to replace the door lock. It is also a good opportunity to check over the other linkages in the door and perhaps to add some sound proofing in there too. |
