They're just wear strips to protect the floor and have no structural significance. You should have no ill-effects if you remove them as part of your camper conversion.

As blackwolf has said already, no need for them, only attach to the floor via rivets. I removed mine for the same reason. Next consideration would be whether you remove the lashing eyes or not...

Do the rivits that hold the ribs in place also go through the underfloor stiffeners?... If so it could be worth putting rivits back in to stop floor vibration

I don't think so, but it should be easy to check by taking a look under the vehicle. It is probably worth putting a (sealed) rivet back to plug the hole, unless the river head is likely to be a problem in which case taping the hole might be better.

Lincs will definitely be removing the eyes too, still havent decided to jb weld their holes or utilise them in some way with the camper though
This was what I was thinking if they were connected to these stiffners. If so I can always just put a rivet back in, with the soundproofing and insulation on top the height difference should be negligible . Could you not just leave them, put a sound proofing material around them then make a false floor to go over the top as the ribs would give extra support.
it could save the extra work Just another thought. |

I was thinking about it to save the work but I am just thinking the ply floor might have trouble bonding to the uneven surface that they create. Might as well do it once and do it right you know

You can buy countersink pop rivets. Just don’t drill into the top of your fuel tank, I had a customer manage to do that on a td5

So Decided to remove them this afternoon, filled in the holes with jb weld and will smooth it all out tomorrow. Thanks for the inputs lads
