I had a td5 02 facelift test mule much the same story, they usually have hand written numbers on parts to show which “mule” they are.
I would say keep it original or you will ruin the “history” of it. There used to be a guy on one of the forums had a soft top NAS mule I think. |

Hi yes, want to put back to original, get rid of the lift etc.
Did the brakes today as they were all knackered. Fixed 2 oil leaks. Found massive holes in the exhaust. Need to fit a new one but don't know if I should fit cats or not. Looking at this. Click image to enlarge It does have euro 2 emissions on the log book so guessing ill need them, but don't know what to get. Its got through emissions ok with what it has now, similar to the one pictured, but its on lpg, so assume the emissions will go up when I put it back onto petrol. I will be ripping the gas out in a month or so so need to source all the parts. Hoping there will be a wealth of knowledge on here. Looking forward to the challenge. Steve |

Yes, indeed Nick, thanks.
However, Thats the bloke I got the car off. Thought he might have told me he had it when I brought the car, knowing full well I intended to remove the LPG. I think a td5 tank will do the job as they are supposed to be the same. Im reluctant to give him 500 quid and drive all the way to b, ham again. Steve |

Sorry I looked the other day at tanks and saw it, just realised he has the missing seats and bits for sale too
I have a few plastic tanks for sale if you need one too. They’re not quite the same though. I think was it maybe Keith Gott had a few NAS things for sale in the past… I would say it has slipped through the net and probably should have been crushed by Land Rover, there’s been a few cars come out like that. |

Yes.
I don't know if its a good or a bad thing. Im just going round in circles at the moment. First priority is get the exhaust fixed so I can get 12 months MOT on it. This buys me some time. Then starting with the fuel tank and lines etc work my way p to the engine management. I d be very interested in what any one has to sell, providing its what I need. The td5 tank looks identical, I just wonder if a 110 petrol fuel sender will fit the tank? The other option is to get a tank made I suppose. Ive asked a chap on eBay about exhaust manifolds, I think that discovery 1 v8 manifolds are the same. This is going to be a lot of trial and error and this is probably why the last guy gave up. Once the gas tank is empty I'm screwed any way because there are no lpg stations near me to fill up. Do you know if the exhaust system from the 3.5 Im looking at will fit, it looks identical. Thanks, Steve |

Can you post some more pictures of under the bonnet or the exhaust system that’s currently fitted? it might help people identifying parts.
It’s a rare vehicle and as you’ve said a Mule so different parts will be on each one and stuff that’s very sought after, just part and parcel of owning such a thing. Rare parts unfortunately probably means expensive parts. I’d get a parts manual for the NAS and V8 50th and compare it to yours. You can modify and fit various different discovery “classic” or D2 v8 senders to fit with a little modification of the tabs, just like the tdi senders. I would find a V8 50th owner and get some pictures, I think there’s some on here, there used to be a 50th owners club too. |

Here are a few more pics.
Its just started pouring down so can't gat any more till it stops. Thank you for your responses guys, gives me some hope. As you can see it has a dizzy currently, suppose it was easier for the complete gas conversion. The exhausts are 4 - 1 manifold type, no cats. (but think I may need them refitting) No wiring as far as I can see. I am in talks with RPI engineering with her the ecu and sensors etc. However there is the option to go carbs as the distributor is there. It is a VERY quiet forum but there are some clever guys on there and a lot of of knowledge. Also may be worth searching old posts and putting up a wanted ad for parts. |
