For a Beetle, A is the distance on a wall (10 metres away) between the bright centres of the light pattern (the brightest part before the light slants up) and should be the same as the distance between the centres of the headlamps. B should be the height from the ground to the centres of the headlamps minus 5 cm. It's important that the horizontal part of the light pattern is below B (allowing for a bit of "light smear" This was my mistake yesterday (I set the pattern centres at B). Our Beetle-mechanic says this is how he does it and reckons it should be about the same for most cars. BUT I reckon the lights on a Defender are so high up, they throw the light further forward in any event (this was my worry yesterday). I reckon my original lamps and bulbs were so dim, I never noticed before... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I can get you started, since I did B again this morning - its 91 cm minus 5 cm = 86 cm OR 34 inches 10 metres = 33 feet Oh God... I just can't do this any more Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I recently bought some Led headlights from Boltonbits proper ones not cheap & nasty.
RDX headlights. Having fitted them I used the original adjustment set up & didn't alter a thing; they were clearly high & to the right. I readjusted them & then checked them at a mate's mot station. They still weren't right so we adjusted them to the max - low & left & the mot tester said he would pass it (just). I still think they are too high & could with going a bit more to the kerb....as occasionally I get the odd flash & they are great at lighting up big signs on the left of the road! Obviously I could put even longer bolts in or fit a spacer that brings the lights down & to the left OR is there another way? Cheers Guy May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |
