I find it hard to understand why so many people keep asserting that Trump is a businessman.

He is one of the least successful businessmen of all time. Three bankruptcies, and is has been established he'd be wealthier if he'd left his considerable inheritance in the bank earning interest than he is as a result of attempting to do business.

Then there is the awkward detail that he has paid less in income tax in the last ten years than he paid to Stormy Daniels. Best not to mention the misogyny and the 26 alleged assaults, and the court-confirmed rape incident.

I'm afraid that I don't subscribe to the school of thought that he's very bright and knows what he is doing. He is a serial disruptor, it is why his businesses keep failing and doesn't bode well for any of us, least of all the USA.

Rolling with laughter

I do think that is a test to see if anyone is paying attention.... MAGA supporters now ranting about the penguins ripping them off.

So I guess we're talking politics now.

As one of the handful of "yanks" on the forum, I'll see myself out now since it seems that hedged opinions that aren't pronounced as if they're Euclidean Postulates aren't in vogue around here.

I'll just say this before I exit stage right - If, in the year of our Lord 2025, you have not figured out that every move Trump makes is part of a negotiation, well Bless Your Heart.

I don't particularly like the tariffs (especially since I'm staring down a $5k tariff on a fireplace I ordered in January that is in transit from Israel) as a fan of Sowell and Friedman, but I long ago realized that getting over the things I don't like, and figuring out a way to improvise, adapt, and overcome is part of being a functional member of productive society.

USMC?

Of course I see it as part of a negotiation...... but how far do you go? Its less about politics but more about attitudes and awareness

Anyway I came on here to correct myself. The equation apparently includes a 0.5 multiplication with a min level.

From a…. “pathetic Europe?”, I only have to say that the world was not well before Mr. Trump, but it is quite evident that, everything points to, that after his arrival, Mr. Trump is making things even worse… I only hope that you do not have to regret what you have voted for and, above all, that you can continue doing so in the future… and May God bless all of you !!! Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY

Please don’t “see yourself out”. Hang around, and normal service will be resumed eventually. In general this forum stays a long, long way from politics, and that’s the way I think most folk prefer it. Scotland vs England politics is a real turn-off for me, but it crops up occasionally and it’s one of the reasons I dislike threads that become political. People you think are quite reasonable can display unsettling opinions. That’s all fine in other forums and places - but this is a polite and courteous forum about old cars!

Unfortunately what’s happening over these last few days, and into the next few weeks or months is pretty seismic. Who knows where we’re going. It’s a worry. Add this into the rise of the right in Europe and elsewhere and it’s little wonder people feel a need to have their say. Donald

You can’t blame them.

From what I have read, VW will be hit really hard and Ineos has already been quoted as saying that America was their largest market for the Grenadier. Not sure what tense to use there? Perhaps that should be is their largest market

No point. Mr Trump says all the jobs will be in America.

I really don't know what is going to happen here. People who have lots and lots of money will be feeling the pain a lot worse than most of us. And they will be even more upset than the rest of us and I am guessing many of these people are who bank rolled Mr Trump to get him where he is.

At some point someone is going to step in and stop this shinanikins. I don't know enough about American politics to know how a President can be removed. Can an American President be removed from power without resorting to a Lee Harvey Oswald?
