Puma 2.2 dashboard warning lights and LED's
For those of you who are interested, here are two photos of the 2.2 puma dashboard with regards to warning light.

The first photo shows the actual “spaces”, for want of a better word, that are available to be illuminated.

The second photo shows the actual LED’s that are being used.

Now, I don’t know if these are specific to options that were available at the time of purchase, but it should give you an idea of what is available.

The reason I was interested is that I noticed that there was a hi/lo range warning light available, but as it turned out, no LED present. I assume, in this case, that the switch is there simply to alter the revs and not to illuminate the dashboard when low range is selected. However, it does appear that there are a couple of contacts available on the PCB for an LED??

Mine would have the electronics stability symbol..the vehicle with the wavy lines..
One lights to show its switched off and the other lights when the system is activating during wheel spin..so there must be variants..
Interesting about the hi lo range..I often wondered why no indicator light..

So I don’t have ABS (glad for the simplicity even though it would probably be useful to have it) and obviously no stability control. What’s interesting is that there are five LED’s along the bottom. One for the lights, two for the DPF - orange and red I presume, and one for the trailer, but there’s no other symbol on the dash for the fifth one to glow through🧐

Are you thinking of fitting a LED into the High/ Low bulb socket to see if it illuminates when in Low ?

I’m assuming the facility is there for a RoW requirement so therefore would need the right software in the IPAC to illuminate it, unless the code is there irrespective of being EU or RoW spec and the way for the feature to be enabled is to fit a LED in the socket.

PS. I don’t think anyone needs a light on the dash to tell them if they are in high or low range, thats pretty obvious from the lever position and driving. But it would be an interesting to know if it worked.

It's for overspeed warning in Saudi Arabia (120 km/h).

Left DPF is red (full) right is orange (regen needed).

Someone in a forum made the low range LED to light up but I can't find it :-/
The consensus was that no one needs it Laughing

As you‘ve pointed out, it should be pretty obvious that you’re in low range, so no, i’m not going to try that rabbit hole. Having said that, it would be interesting to see if there is a voltage at the soldered connections for an LED. Bit risky though as it could go wrong and then you may need a replacement IPAC.

If you wanted the LED to illuminate, you would have to install a sensor in the transfer box, wouldn't you ?

Just like the LED for "diff locked" that sometimes won't illuminate if the contact doesn't fit well. But in that case you will see the position of your lever and feel if the diff is engaged.

I thought the transfare box had a high low range switch installed...for the benefit of the ecu and engine management..
So the switch is already in place for that..

I don't think so, because the engine management depends on the engine sensors. It doesn't matter if your in high or low. You can even disengage the transfer box (put the lever in neutral position) / cut the spline to the gear box / unmount the transfer box and the engine still works as before

Idle jack depends on the hi/low switch. Only works in 1st low and reverse.

AFAIK the IPC reads the switch and tells ECM about it via CAN.
