What a out a receiver hitch like those from Extreme 4x4 as they attach to the cross member and chassis rails then you can have your NATO hitch/50mm tow ball and recovery billet into it 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

Any NAS-style step will reduce your departure angle more than a NATO pintle or any BSAU24 (i.e., four-bolt) coupling fitted directly to the crossmember. If you do fit a NATO pintle of BSAU24 coupling to the crossmember of a TD5 or TDCi Defenber you must use an appropriate reinforcing plate between the coupling and crossmember.
Generally it isn't worth fitting a NATO pintle unless you want to be able to tow a trailer with a 76mm NATO lunette, since it really isn't very good ant anything else. You will also find that you walk into it frequently, and it hurts. A 5-tonne four-bolt BSAU24 pin/jaw coupling is more versatile (and less painful). In my opinion the best and most versatile option is a receiver hitch, it really doesn't impact your departure angle, it can take any form of hitch, and you won't walk into it. |
