Wolf rims are, what, £160 a corner, brand new, from landrover.
Second hand, with a set of used tyres? Who knows? 400 maybe on the legitimate marekt? Is someone going to go to the bother of jacking up your vehical and removing a set of bulky, heavy wheels, and then storing them for whatever they can scrape out of a 400 sale? I would imagine that, if you're into criminal stuff, there are way easier ways to make £400 than lugging about a set of heavy landrover wheels. Those are my thoughts on the matter anyway! |

Waste of time - all they’re likely to achieve is a heightened state of annoyance when the key breaks or is lost right as you have a puncture on a dark, cold, wet night.

Do you inform your insurance company? |

I've never heard of an insurance company insisting on locking wheelnuts or even asking about them. Unless they did, then no, I wouldn't tell them.
It's also worth remembering that universal (internally taper-threaded) LWN removal sockets are dirt cheap now and I am sure no self-respecting wheel thief would be without them. These sockets make LWNs almost entirely redundant, they undoubtedly inconvenience the owner more than the thief. |

Having spent 30 mins trying to remove the security key that had seized on to the nut yesterday I’ve removed them.
I recall a Jag dealer once telling me when I ordered a replacement set they never sold them. “They don’t take the wheels anymore, just the whole car.” 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |

I've always had LWN's fitted but after reading all the nay sayers perfectly good reasons why they don't fit them there seems to be a stronger case against them. I think i'll take mine off.

My Daughter took her Mini (2016) to Halfords for new tyres.
3 out of 4 locking nuts broke as they attempted to undo them. Halfords called a “ specialist” who charged £150 to remove the damaged ones. I bought standard studs to replace them and removed the LWNs from my Defender Clemmo Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow.... I wouldn't bother if a thief wants your wheels there taking them they will come prepared and take them they only really stop opportunist stealing. You can get all the removal tools fairly easy too 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

Consensus of opinion has been helpful.
I kinda thought I was being daft not considering fitting them but more comfortable with the idea now 👍🏻 Cheers folks |

I've been meaning to bin my locking wheel nuts for months so this thread reminded me to do that. 4 new Wringtons delivered and fitted and now I don't have to carry around the key as well as all the other shi..stuff we all have in our trucks.
