Thanks Andy, I’ll pass, if only because I need to remove mine for the same reasons. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Thanks V8, if I took just one, it would need to be the RHS, which is the side that has seized. Ideally I’ll do both. But thanks anyway. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Why not just buy new, they're not particularly expensive and with new parts you're assured what you're getting?

That's preferred, and likely where I'm heading, but it involves considerable logistics as I'll want to source them in the UK, likely the LOF with upgraded SS pistons. They might not expensive in the UK, but in France britpart versions are the cost of the AP versions, and the APs (x 1) are the same price as a twin pair of LOFs with the upgrade. I typically purchase all my landrover parts in the UK and have them send over. You don't pay the VAT and then you get charged French VAT and a small duty. But if you save up some parts I find it is much much cheaper than buying in France AND as you say you actually have brand options. I had to change the crank on my RR P38 4.6 and I had purchased King bearings (main) ~GBP25 skipping the GBP18 Britpart option. Unfortunately I messed up one bearing during installation and being in a rush I purchased a set from LanderShop in France: Euro 55 ex VAT add shipping total bill Euro 79. Arrived: Britpart.... |

Do they have the storage lockers in the uk, or the shops that accept parcels, I have used these before.
Work out what return time frame they have with the system. Then work out when I need to buy the item deliver to the “parcel holding shop” so that I am in the time frame. Note some send package back within 7 days of non collection some are 30 days. Then just pick up after managing to time it well. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing. 5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |
