Thanks but it’s a TD5. I am going to replace all of my door actuators with eBay ones, and bypass the AS10 being removed. I don’t think the position of that arm will matter when the door is closed.

That is the lock isn’t it? Goes up to the door button inside.

No. The rod is one I added. I thought at first that internally it connects to the same mechanism as the door opening latch, but the door stays closed with it up.

Click image to enlarge Best guess is that it is for a different variant, normally disconnected in td5 defender. |

That part I believe is for the door “pin” in the upper door card, down is locked, up is unlocked.
If it’s mechanism somewhere is sticking or blocking then you could have the effect of the door preferring to stay open or locked. Applying some silicone lube on all of the mechanisms is well worth doing, especially if it hasn’t been done in many years, it’s one of those jobs worth doing once in a blue moon like the windscreen wiper rack. If you have central locking, elec windows etc it will make a lot of difference to everything much smoother and lighter work for CL actuators and window motors etc, smoother, and quieter. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |
