Defender front door latch: what does this arm do?
Hi All

I just replaced my RHS front door latch, and realised that if the arm in the red circle below is pulled up, it addresses a previous annoyance: that I need to hold the button in on the door handle when closing from the outside. As you can see in the picture I have temporarily pulled it up with wire but can’t see any fixture that I could connect to permanently if using a cable tie etc.

My LHS front door is the same.

What’s the function of this? Is it supposed to be pulled up permanently?

Thanks but it’s a TD5. I am going to replace all of my door actuators with eBay ones, and bypass the AS10 being removed. I don’t think the position of that arm will matter when the door is closed.

That is the lock isn’t it? Goes up to the door button inside.

No. The rod is one I added. I thought at first that internally it connects to the same mechanism as the door opening latch, but the door stays closed with it up.

Best guess is that it is for a different variant, normally disconnected in td5 defender.
