No light needed - you soon know about it
Actually - how do you select low on yours? is it a lever or button? Does your auto sit in front of the transfer box - in which case, how does it handle the double d clutch required for the change? One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

No - but ive been doing some investigation into the light on the dash because it was supposed to work.
I know all the wiring and switch is there, in theory from reading the workshop manual and electrical manual it not only should light, was planned to light, but all the parts to make it light are there. Im going to wait to see where the break in the chain is. Mike |

If the wiring and switch are present surely it would only need the dealer to activate it through the ECU. It would be nice to know if that's possible. 130 crew cab

here's one for you. have posted in relation to this, but not worked out the answer yet. i am trying to bypass the signal that is sent to the ECU when you select low ration, reason being, is that i want shot of the idle jack. i have an auto box fitted, and the idle jack causes problems due to the ratios in my gearbox. i have thought about just pulling the plug off the sensor, but not sure what the effect may be. any thoiughts, let me know. I have access to this and im going to play with it hopefully next weekend if the kit is free...im sure i know where the option may live, i know the switch is there...i know the grey black wires are there, i also know the position in the dash is there (green light that doesnt turn on on self test) - the pre release mule had them. So its either an option or not, it may also end up being more complicated! the feed does do some engine management tasks i understand.
The low switch is the grey connector on the right rear of the trans. box - remove this to try its only a connector...you wont be able to have your light on the dash though if i work it out. Mike |

my thoughts are, that if i remove the connector, and this achieved what i wanted, then i could put a swhich in line, so that when desending, and need to loose the idle jack, i can flick the swhich, the low ratio light would go out, that way i would know idle jack has been by-passed. let us know how you get on.
